Ákos Levente is a Budapest-based visual artist. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in photography in Hungary at MATE Rippl-Rónai Institute of Art (Kaposvár) and at Budapest Metropolitan University. He spent one semester at the Brno University of Technology, Studio of Photography. Since 2020 he has been a member of DRUKKER Community Letterpress and since 2021 a member of the Studio of Young Photographers. He is actively involved in the professional community work and in the organization of different photography-centered workshops and camps. His interests are centered on DIY and alternative photographic approaches, with a particular focus on environmentally conscious and sustainable practices. His long-term goal is to build his autonomous practice around these principles and to establish a creative community based on a similar mindset.

2023

Biolabor

I began working on the project titled Biolabor in 2023. During this period, my interest shifted specifically toward the use of environmentally friendly, sustainable, homemade photographic “chemicals.” The project is grounded in an experimental practice that examines the material and ethical dimensions of photography. My working method is based on a two-point manifesto: 1. All “chemicals” used in the development process are produced by myself, using exclusively natural ingredients. 2. No newly manufactured raw materials are used in the image-making process. The project currently unfolds along several parallel lines. In addition to ongoing experimentation and the maintenance of a detailed work journal, it also takes shape through workshops related to the topic, organized in collaboration with DRUKKER Community Letterpress. Alongside this, a recipe book compiling the processes and experiences gathered during the experiments is currently in progress. I see the full realization of the Biolabor project in the formation of a collective. I believe that FUTURES can provide a particularly suitable platform for the networking and collaboration required, connecting like-minded artists and institutions working with similar concerns.

eden levi am
eden levi am (b. 1992) is an artist, photographer, and queer activist based in Geneva. For several years they have developed a documentary approach that centres on activism and intimacy. Working primarily with analogue photography and video—and, more recently, performance—their practice offers a personal and affective view of the world that resonates with current social and political issues. From an intersectional feminist and decolonial perspective, their work addresses questions related to the body, gender, identities, and their representations. They graduated from the Vevey School of Photography (CEPV) in 2018. Their work has been exhibited and published in Switzerland and abroad since 2017. It was recently featured at Swiss and international venues and festivals such as Verzasca Foto Festival (2024), Fesses-tival (Geneva 2023), Tom of Finland Art & Culture Festival (London 2023), Musée d’art de Pully (CH, 2017 & 2023), Urgent Paradise (Lausanne 2022), Forde (Geneva, 2022), Romantso Gallery Space (Athens 2020), Space Grotesk (Basel 2019), CPG (Geneva, 2019), La Nef (Jura, 2019), and others. Publications include Libération (2021) and Journal des Bains (2016–2025) as well as several exhibition catalogues. In 2021 they were awarded the City of Geneva’s Documentary Photography Grant. The resulting project, Rivers, was published in 2023 as a monograph by Miami Books and presented in a solo exhibition at Halle Nord in Geneva, accompanied by two performances during the Fesses‑tival, a festival that promotes positive and inclusive visions of bodies, identities, and sexualities. Most recently, they presented their latest project, ZONE ROUGE RACINES, within the framework of the JOUPH (2025) programme at Espace Libre in Biel/Bienne.

Mateusz Pecyna
Mateusz Pecyna is a Polish visual artist working with installation, moving image, objects and sound. His practice explores how technological systems and environmental stress reshape contemporary culture, especially through regimes of visibility, interfaces and synthetic forms of nature. Rather than treating technology as a neutral tool, he approaches it as a cultural agent: something that produces aesthetics, behaviours and power relations. Combining research with speculative narration, he builds layered situations that test the boundaries between documentary evidence and constructed scenarios. Pecyna holds an MA in Photography and Multimedia from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland. He has presented work widely in solo and group exhibitions in Poland and internationally, across museums and festival contexts. He currently participates in the international Heritage Lens programme, focusing on how climate change and environmental catastrophe reorganise cultural heritage, public imaginaries and the conditions of living. He was awarded the Artistic Scholarship of the City of Łódź (2025).

Laura Van Severen
Laura Van Severen is a photographer interested in landscape representation. She develops her artistic practice in the form of long-term projects that result from traversing, connecting, observing or interacting with a specific place. In doing so, she touches upon a variety of subjects, from global logistics and waste management to local rural realities or sound (hi)stories. Laura studied Fine Arts and Photography at KASK School of Arts in Ghent, (Belgium) where she obtained her MA in 2015. that same year she was selected as one of ten talents by the FOMU Photography Museum in Antwerp. In 2016, she published the photobook Land (The Eriskay Connection), which was awarded Best Dutch Book Design. In 2021, she became part of Futures Photography after being nominated by the Triennial of Photographie Hamburg. In 2023, she received the Creación Injuve grant from the Spanish government and participated in an exchange residency between Hangar Barcelona and Kunstiftung Baden–Württemberg in Germany. Under the title Listening–Gathering, she is currently creating a collection of stories in which sound impacts and materialises into concrete realities. Laura lives in Barcelona (Spain) where she also works as a freelance photographer, teacher and studio manager.

Yunping Li
Bio: Yun Ping Li (Hubei, China, 1998) is a visual artist based in Madrid. His work investigates the intersection between photography and performance, as well as exploring the concept of belonging in relation to the human body, physical spaces, and family ties. He is author of 回家 (huí jiā). The project has been winner of 13th Galicia Contemporary Photography Award, Fotonoviembre photography biennial and FOTODOKS open call 2025 and Getxophoto open call 2026. He has presented it at Paris Internationale and the annual "Plat(t)form" portfolio review event at Fotomuseum Winterthur (Switzerland). He has participated in solo and collective exhibitions in venues such as El Local (Madrid), Photo Elysée (Switzerland), La Panera (Lleida), The National Museum of Anthropology (Madrid) and Sala Arte Joven (Madrid). He has published his work in Sinetheta, Balam, Exit and Esto es un cuerpo magazines. His work is in the collection of Kutxa foundation.

Masha Weisberg
Masha Weisberg (b. 1997, Ukraine) is a visual artist currently based in Vancouver, Canada. Working primarily with photography—ranging from historical and alternative processes to experimental and mixed-media approaches—Weisberg explores themes of generational trauma, cycles of human history, motherhood, and the complex relationship between personal and collective memory. Her practice blends abstract and narrative-driven imagery, engaging with photography as a medium beyond documentation, often intersecting with installation and video art. Her ongoing projects investigate inherited histories, war trauma, and the fragility of human experience.

George Ivanchenko
Is a Ukrainian photographer who has been working as a freelance reporter in the field of documentary and journalistic photography since February 2022. From the first months of the invasion, he began shooting for Associated Press and European Pressphoto Agency as a freelancer. He continues to capture stories of people on the front lines and in de- occupied territories while working on his own projects. In 2023, he received his first award: 25 Under 25: "Young and Daring" and became a member of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP). In 2025, while reporting from the front line, George was seriously wounded in a Russian FPV drone strike in which his colleague, French photojournalist Anthony Lallikan, was killed. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Georgiana Feidi

Georgiana Feidi, currently based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is a visual artist who
achieved her photo video MA's degree from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca in 2020. In her artistic approach, she uses both digital and analog tools, including post-processing and the hands-on exploration of darkroom and alternative photography techniques. In her artistic endeavors, Georgiana explores themes inspired by the mysteries of the universe, nature, personal insights and experiences. Her works reflect a journey into unexplored territories, creating visual narratives that transcend conventional boundaries of thought. Over the years, she has presented her work in solo exhibitions nationally, and participated in group shows across Romania and internationally, including cities like Dortmund, Melbourne, New York, and Rome. Her work has also been featured in various online publications both nationally and internationally.

Olga
Olga Kocsi (1987) is a multimedia artist based in Budapest and Freiburg, creating multi-sensory experiences that explore topics at the intersection of various scientific fields. Her work investigates the relationship between reality and virtual reality, as well as its potential evolution in the future, while pushing and mapping the boundaries between private and public spheres. Kocsi is known for her complex installations that envelop the viewer, employing a wide range of media including photography, video, animation, and VR. A key aspect of her practice is providing guided experiences that encourage audiences to engage with socially complex messages through self-reflection. Her main areas of focus include human stories, the mapping of time and reality, and simulation. As an experimental thinker, Kocsi boldly plays with spaces, surfaces, and materials, crafting unconventional situations that actively involve the viewer.

Raisan Hameed
Raisan Hameed (*1991) is an Iraqi-German multimedia artist based in Leipzig. He is currently a Meisterschüler with Prof. Tina Bara at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, after completing his Diploma in Photography. His work has been featured in various international exhibitions, including the Prix Photoforum Biel, Bundeskunsthalle Bonn and the Carte Blanche Exhibition in Paris. Hameed's practice is defined by a subtle and metaphorical visual language, profoundly impacted by his personal experiences of loss, trauma, and displacement. At the heart of his work is the transformation of intimate visual memories into universal narratives, as exemplified in one of his most acclaimed projects, Zer-Störung. Recontextualizing damaged family photographs that bear the scars of his hometown, Mosul, Hameed explores the destruction inflicted upon his family while reflecting on human themes of resilience and survival.

Katerina Tsakiri

Katerina Tsakiri was born in Athens in 1991 and she is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. She studied Photography and Audiovisual Arts in Athens and has an MFA in Photography from the University of Gothenburg. Since 2015 she has been working part-time as a visual artist and part-time as a commercial photographer. From 2019 she has been devoting her time to her artistic practice. She works with self-portraiture and her subjects are mainly autobiographical. The theme of her work is the female identity in Western culture with a focus on the female body. Her practice expands from staged photography to video performances and sculptures. In her latest project, she uses documentary photography to share the journey of her breast cancer treatment. She unravels through the photographic medium her body’s fragility and the impact of the illness on her female identity.

Salvatore Vitale
Salvatore Vitale (b. 1986, Palermo, Italy) is a Swiss-based artist, director, and professor whose work explores the complexity of contemporary societies. Using expanded and speculative storytelling through mixed media techniques, he focuses on the politics of systems that regulate modernity and the impact of technological transformations. Vitale is the Artistic Director of EXPOSED Torino Foto Festival and FUTURES Photography, both international platforms dedicated to contemporary photography. He also serves as a Professor at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, where he leads the Transmedia Storytelling Programme. Previously, he was the co-founder and editor-in-chief of YET magazine, an international photography publication. Vitale’s work has received international awards. Angel Luis Gonzalez Fernandez
Ángel Luis González Fernández is a designer, artist, and curator supporting engaging visual arts practices, winner of Business to Arts David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Awards 2011. His work manifests through PhotoIreland, which he founded in 2010 to stimulate a critical dialogue on Photography. He devises curatorial projects placing conversations in the public realm around visual culture, critical thinking. These include events (PhotoIreland Festival, Halftone Print Fair, arts residency How to Flatten a Mountain, and New Irish Works), a cultural hub (The Library Project: Ireland’s Art bookshop, host to a unique resource library of photobooks and a productive arts programme), publishing projects that distribute inexpensive access to local practices, research projects (Critical Academy: examining contemporary art practices). He works collaboratively with a growing network of organisations, noticeably through ambitious Creative Europe partnerships. During the Summer 2020 lockdown he launched the critical publication OVER Journal, now distributed globally. He received the Arts Council of Ireland’s Visual Arts Bursary to deepen research on the broad historical and specific artistic context of Photography in Ireland, to curate an ambitious survey exhibition in PhotoIreland Festival 2022 and to publish a series of publications on the matter. He regularly contributes to publications such as the forthcoming The Routledge Companion to Global Photographies, edited by Lucy Soutter, Duncan Wooldridge.
